The bit with Luz and the farm girl always strikes me as weird. Points to Perco for trying to get him to leave the poor fraulein alone, but seriously. The whole episode is uncomfortable, tonally, for very obvious reasons, but this seemed like a weird place to start the thing off, particularly given the deeply serious violin number with somber discussion of composers that immediately precedes it.
