2020 Goals

Anyone have some? I'm really hoping to finish up a couple WIP that have been haunting me. Mainly the one where Nix is a spy during the war, and the one where Nix is a pretty pretty dragon prince.

I'm going to write the blue discharge fic this year. It's going to happen. (Though the more I think about it the more torn I am about who the discharged person should be.)

I thought about Babe, who I still really like for it, but now I'm seriously considering making it Eugene if I go the TP route or possibly even Buck Compton. Because I think that could also be very interesting.

This year I want to write more than in 2019 (139k) and finish The Earth Below My Feet. Which is never going to happen by Dec 31, but hey, a girl can dream.

Yeah, 110k are spent on the series. I'm gauging I'll need another this much to close it. (Before that, my word count had been zero for YEARS.)

Kind of has to be Don for this plot, doesn't it? Just for the proximity post-war. Unless someone switches coasts, and you go with Luz.

This is actually from my Only One Bed fic, which hopefully I'll finish up soon. It has flashbacks to how they met.

Eddie called out, croaked, cleared his throat, called out again. It was the password from a week ago, but it got him a familiar voice in reply.

"Sergeant Jones?"

"Here, sir!"

Then he was surrounded by marines: beautiful, filthy bastards from weapons, Lieutenant Haldane the most beautiful of them all.

Ack Ack's hand was big and warm on Eddie's shoulder, and Eddie found that his legs wouldn't quite carry him the way he should. He swayed and leaned forward into the touch, just to keep to his feet.

"We all thought you were dead, Hillbilly," Ack Ack said.

Eddie nodded. He'd have given up on them too, after so long. "Lieutenant Reeve is, sir."

"But the rest of the men are accounted for." Ack Ack sounded amazed. Eddie supposed that was reasonable: a dozen men lost in the jungle without an officer or anyone else had a clue where to lead them?

"Got lucky, sir," Eddie said. The jungle shifted again, like he was on a ship that'd just taken a rogue wave broadside. He staggered, falling forward, exhaustion and the weight of everything that had happened this last week baring him down.

Ack Ack caught him, calling out for a corpsman as he did, then saying into Eddie's ear, "I don't know that luck had much to do with it, Sergeant."
