[EVENT] Rare Pair Exchange: Participant Prompts

Hi everyone! Assignments for the Rare Pair Exchange have officially gone out, which means that it's time to share participant prompts for anyone who wants to write additional gifts for their fellow exchangers.

A few of the participants have elected to keep their names anonymous. If you would like to fill a prompt for an anonymous participant, just leave a comment on this post* with the participant's number and which request you'd like to fill. (Ex: "I'd like to write request 1 for Participant 4." or "I'd like to fill a request for Participant 5, but I'm not sure which one yet.") I'll provide you with the names of the people whose requests you'd like to fill so that you can gift your fic on the AO3 collection accordingly.

Request 1: Andrew Haldane/Edward Jones: Any of: How they met, getting together fic, first times, anything about negotiating sexual relationships (kinky or otherwise), h/c, presumed dead, fixit fic about their life after the war, 1940s queer culture. Prompts: Andy goes missing, leaving Eddie in charge of k/3/5 and trying to find him; negotiating life with war injuries and being closeted post-war; someone's first time (having sex at all, doing something specific), and its more nerve wracking than expected; playful, joyful We're Alive smut. DNW: fic focusing on their death.

Request 2: Bill Guarnere/Joe Toye: Any of: How they met, getting together fic, first times, anything about negotiating sexual relationships (kinky or otherwise), h/c, presumed dead, friends with benefits, 1940s queer culture. Prompts: one of them thinks it's just sex, but the other is getting increasingly serious; drag or gender play; hooking up at reunions; gruff, indirect signs of affection. DNW: bashing existing love interests.

Request 3: Buck Compton/Donald Malarkey: Any of: first times, anything about negotiating sexual relationships (kinky or otherwise), h/c, presumed dead, fixit fic about their life after the war, 1940s queer culture. Prompts: How did Buck integrate into the company? Gambling with each other leads to making bets they'll have to pay in private; always more fic about meeting up in Paris; postwar Don transfers to UCLA, and they have to figure out if they still mean anything to each other.

Request 4: Buck Compton/Lewis Nixon: Frankly, I'm in it for the ill-advised but mutually enjoyable (with Many Many Regrets) hate sex.

Request 5: Carwood Lipton/George Luz: Any of: first times, anything about negotiating sexual relationships (kinky or otherwise), h/c, presumed dead, fixit fic about their life after the war, 1940s queer culture. Prompts: George keeps trying to get Lip's attention by annoying him; h/c where Lip is the one who gets taken care of; post-war of George showing up in Virginia; some kind of magical element is happening, and only they can see it. DNW: OT3 with Speirs.

Request 6: Johnny Martin/Bull Randleman: Any of: first times, anything about negotiating sexual relationships (kinky or otherwise), h/c, presumed dead, life after the war, 1940s queer culture. Am also happy to read Bull/Johnny/Pat, Bull/Johnny/Bill. Role reversal where Bull thinks Johnny is dead; trying to put each other together after Bastogne; post-war where Bull ends up moving in with Pat and Johnny. DNW: bashing Pat.

Do Not Wants: Hopeless endings of utter sadness, fic where the requested pairing doesn't end up together, vividly-described on-page death by illness or cancer, references/allusions to present-day politics, character bashing, character(s)/the author lecturing other characters/the reader about social justice issues, incest, student/teacher romance or sex, strong and realistic sexual violence (dubcon okay in cases of sex pollen what have you), graphic torture (aftermath of torture is okay), mutilation, or zombies. Modern day coffeeshops, highschools or universities as AU settings. I'm not hot on setting-change AUs generally for this fandom. I do like adding magical elements to period fic.

Request 2: Guarnere/Toye - I would love canon, maybe pre-war, friends-to-fuck buddies. Basically, I just want a continuation of Mucca’s war paint fic. *hint, hint*

PARTICIPANT 4

Request 1: Nate Fick/Anyone. I love Nate Fick character studies or an introspective. I love when Nate has to deal with unexpected arousal either in Iraq or afterwards. I love when Nate feels he has to be in control of every other area of his life, but when it comes to relationships he struggles with emotional intimacy. I like all kinds of political AUs or Space AUs for Nate. I have read Nate/Ray, Nate/Doc, and Nate/Mike fic that I really liked, so any of those would be fun. Or any poly relationship with Brad would be amazing, too.

Request 2: Joe Liebgott/Nixon. I really like when Joe is angry and prickly and pisses off the wrong person. I'd like to see him tangled in some kind of power dynamics situation. Maybe he and Nixon butt heads about something - maybe the intel Nix gave them isn't any good, or Joe thinks Nix is to blame for a mission gone wrong. Or maybe he just has this idea of Nix as a stuck up rich kid. It turns out they both are bad at dealing with anger and have at least that in common.

Request 3: David Webster/OC. I'd really love to see David meet some girl or boy overseas and start corresponding with her/him and have this long distance, pining romance until he gets liberty or the war ends. It would be so sweet to see how David would romance someone through words. OR I'd love for David to meet someone while he's at the hospital, away from Easy. Maybe a nurse or a fellow soldier? Does David fall hard immediately or does it take him awhile? AUs from a different war or time period would be fun, too. Bonus points if Liebgott teases him about his crush/infatuation. Triple bonus points if you write a poly relationship with Liebgott/Web/OC.

Request 4: Eugene Roe/Renée. I'd love to see them being a badass team, helping people and saving lives. I'd also love if they could enjoy some stolen moments for themselves. Does Eugene try to court her even though the war makes it difficult? I'm also open to different first meetings. OR maybe they somehow run into each other after the war and Eugene is relieved to find out she's okay? I also enjoy any type of magic/witch/warlock AU where Roe or Renee actually has healing powers.

Request 2: Andy Haldane/Eddie Jones: Adventures together while on leave.

Request 3: Andy Haldane/Eddie Jones: Canon divergent AU where they both survive the war and get to be together, and now they have to figure out what that means for them. Happy or hopeful ending please!

Request 4: Andy Haldane/Eddie Jones: Any kind of hurt/comfort, either during the war or after. Can be relating to physical injuries or PTSD, nightmares, or something else. I'm not fussy, I just love h/c.

THRILLINGDETECTIVETALES

Request 1: Robert Leckie/Lew "Chuckler" Juergens: Getting together after the war. (Whether Chuckler winds up where Leckie is, Leckie winds up where Chuckler is, or they get themselves together while recuperating in the hospital after they're med-evaced, just give me these idiots falling in love please.)

Request 2: Ralph Spina/Babe Heffron: They become friends in Bastogne, and then something else from there. (Bonus points for supportive Roe & Guarnere!)

Request 3: Eugene Sledge/Bill Leyden: I don't really have a prompt for this, I just think there's some chemistry here that could stand to be explored.

Request 4: David Webster/Donald Hoobler: Falling for each other over the course of the war. Would prefer a canon divergence where Hoobler doesn't die, though whump is okay.

Request 5: Lewis Nixon/Colonel Dobie: Nix doesn't expect his fling with the dashing, foolhardy Englishman to follow him home from the war, but here they are anyway. (Please no love triangle with Dick. Supportive pals only.)

Request 6: Snafu Shelton/Edward Sledge: Snafu and Eugene are ride-or-die bro's. When Snafu visits Mobile after the war, he doesn’t anticipate a fling with Eugene’s hot older brother.

Request 7: Blanche Nixon/DeEtta Almon: an AU where these two join the WACs/WAVEs/etc. and meet and fall in love.

Request 8: Robert Leckie/Bill "Hoosier" Smith: Hoosier thinks Leckie is busting his balls when he says that Hoosier is the prettiest Marine on Guadalcanal, but Leckie is actually just really bad at keeping his thirst under wraps.

Request 9: Robert Leckie/Bud "Runner" Conley: Nothing really happens during the war, though there are moments where it *almost* does. What goes down when they make it back stateside is another matter entirely.

Do Not Wants: Modern AUs, character death, graphic depictions of torture/injury, A/B/O, mpreg, scat/watersports, slave!fic, infidelity, treating female characters as villains or malicious hindrances to queer male romance, Speirton.
