'Tis the season again, y'all. That's right, it's time to release the participant prompts!

If you'd like to treat someone, the only rules are that you respect their do-not-wants. There are no word count minimums or maximums and there's no limit to how many treats you can offer. When you've finished a treat, you can post it to the Heavy Artillery Holiday Exchange 2024 Treats collection on AO3.

A few of the participants have elected to keep their names anonymous. I love so much with these two! Post war getting together/figuring out life in New Jersey, exploring wartime “what would I do if something happened to you?” after the ricochet in Carentan and/or near miss in Nuenen, anything with Dick having the slow burn realization that he’s in love with his best friend and has been this whole time while Nix has been In Love with Dick from day one of OCS…

I also like well researched historical AUs (what if they were in the Pacific, the AAF, WWI?), modern AUs that closely mirror canon, anything with soulmates as long as the soulmate concept isn’t too silly (prefer stuff like having their name on you vs something over complicated), and missing scenes from canon. Why don’t we get Nix’s reaction to hearing Dick got hurt?? For example.

No deaths, more hurt/comfort than straight angst, and prefer we are destined to be together and make each other better people with our love and support vs they’re very different and clash a lot. Also prefer subtly/overtly within historical confines supportive family and friends vs Blanche/Ann/Harry being upset to find out they’re a couple. I also prefer using the BOB cast fleshed out with folks like real life friends and family (Stanhope and Blanche etc) vs any major OC characters like a secretary at the plant.

Request 2: Babe Heffron/Eugene Roe:
This fandom desperately needs more Gene moving to Philly post war! But more generally I love anything with how the two of them look out for each other, the little moments of making sure your person is warm and well fed and feels supported even before you’ve confessed feelings. I usually like Babe being quicker to realize he feels Some Kinda Way about Gene because Gene keeps himself so closed off. That’s another favorite trope, the medics were advised to not make friends because you’ll freak out when they get hurt or killed and Gene struggling with that, the isolation, and then what to do when Babe starts breaking down those boundaries. I also am always a sucker for a modern AU with them where Gene is some version of stressed out EMT/med student/nurse and Babe helps him relax and start having better self care/work life balance routines.

(Also side note: missing scene of Gene comforting Babe after Bill and Joe got hurt is a very neglected moment for fic writers somehow.)

No non canon deaths please, but I don’t mind them getting beat up some. Not here for sad endings or family cutting them off if they find out they’re not just war buddies. Tend to prefer minimal OCs as major characters and also love when Renée, Bill and the other guys play some part in the story. Anything with Babe and Bill being found family is also A+++.

Request 3: Joseph Liebgott/David Webster:
Post-war getting together. Any rating, but need a happy ending to help ease the pain of you know who’s historical fate. :(

THE OG. I love the way they both look out for each other in different ways and the way they just understand each other even though they are very different people and come from very different backgrounds. Missing scenes from canon are always a favourite for me. I enjoy Nix having a big old crush on Dick for a long time and/or mutual pining or dancing around their feelings for one another. I like Dick being jealous of Nix's romantic/sexual conquests and wanting to stake his claim on Nix because of them, also generally being possessive/taking charge/dommy. I also love hurt/comfort with these two, dramatic things like injury or torture and then the aftermath of that. I am not a big fan of when Dick gets too overly judgemental of Nix's drinking, as I don't tend to read the scenes in the show as him really having a problem with it. I do love Dick being a beacon or anchor for Nix, something to set himself by. Nix taking care of Dick by physically cleaning him up or bringing him food is a favourite of mine too.

In terms of AUs, I often really like ones like soulmates or powers where it's canon-era with a bonus feature. But I am fond of putting them in a similar situation in a different era like WWI, or modern AUs with a similar dynamic like police procedural crime drama things.

Request 2: Carwood Lipton/Ronald Speirs:
These two!! I think the thing I like the most about them is the interplay of softness/ferocity. They're both reckless daredevils in their own way but have tender caring moments, and I love how they complement each other. On the surface, Ron seems hard and dangerous and Lip seems soft and caring, but there is so much more to them. I love Ron being deeply devoted to Lip practically before he met him - one of my fave ideas is that Ron had specifically been taking note of Lip during the siege from over in Dog Company and even before, as early as Toccoa - and I LOVE Ron taking care of him when he's sick after Bastogne. I also like Ron being a magpie who steals things and gives them to Lip as presents. I like Ron being decisive and straightforward when it comes to their relationship, although I also like him being surprised how hard he has fallen for Lip. Very Beauty and the Beast of them.

Canon-era AUs like soulmates or magic are very welcome here - Ron's spooky nature lends itself particularly well to supernatural AUs - and if a non-canon-era AU then I would mostly prefer AUs that are more in keeping with canon like Gen Kill or crime drama so Ron can stay a ruthless/scary killer presence.

Request 3: Joseph Liebgott/David Webster:
I love so much about these idiots. Some options: Hate!sex - except it's not actually hate, it's liking someone Too Much and not knowing how to deal with those feelings so you pull your crush's pigtails until they cry and hit you back. Web genuinely liking that Joe reads (I think he's genuine!!!!) and reading out loud to him. Joe's complicated feelings about the patrol. Web comforting Joe after Landsberg. Missing scene of Joe hearing someone got killed at the checkpoint and thinking it was Web. Post-war Web coming to find Joe because he has disappeared and hasn't written back to him.

In terms of AUs, I mostly want canon-era AUs for this. Can be something supernatural, but also AUs where Web was there in Bastogne or they're in different roles, Web as a medic or that sort of thing.

Request 4: Babe Heffron/Eugene Roe:
Okay, these two are just so soft. Like, Babe is a sassy/snarky guy but he's sooo soft about Gene. I also really like how perceptive he is: he sees Gene struggling in Bastogne more clearly than anyone else and tries to make it better even though he's kind of clumsy about it. Anything with mutual caretaking is always lovely. Both of them being lifelines for each other, during Bastogne and then onwards through the rest of the war. Missing scenes from the show like Babe's grief about Bill and Joe and Gene dealing with the aftermath of Landsberg are great. Post-war things are also good, PTSD and recalibrating to life at home.

Canon-era or historical or modern AUs are all good for these two.

Request 5: Snafu Shelton/Eugene Sledge:
Snafu needs to go through a domestication arc... but then again, after the war, so does Gene. A classic fix-it fic is always appreciated. Gene hunting Snafu down in New Orleans or that sort of thing. Flashbacks to the war or a story that goes through the war to post-war is also great. I love Mary Frank Sledge and want her to be supportive even if she Does Not Understand. No Mary Frank bashing.

I'd love canon fics for this, missing scenes or post-war. If you want to AU, then a canon-era AU would be the way to go. I do have a soft spot for ghosts and/or soulmate AUs.

Request 1: Speirs/Lipton: Getting together during the war. How they actually get to know each other and realize they have chemistry beyond professional/brothers-in-arms way. I'd like a take that leans into drama rather than fluff.

Request 2: Speirs/Lipton: They haven't seen each other in years, only writing letters, and they never mentioned the something unspoken between them during the war. But now, Speirs returns from Korea, and Lipton goes to welcome him back at the base in Hawaii, just in time for the New Year's. For this, I'd like the culmination of years of mutual pining happening over a very narrow window of time. Give me mutual pining and drama! It's up to you if it's a get-together or star-crossed.

Request 3: Speirs/Lipton: Bastogne. Lieutenant "already a legend" Speirs and First Sergeant Lipton cross paths in the dark and cold of the winter. They keep passing each other, perhaps on the line, or they share a foxhole for a moment, and there're the beginnings of a spark between two strangers. This one I'd like to be moody and tense, full of unspoken feelings and questions.

Do Not Wants: Omegaverse, AUs, HC kink with pain/injury/degrading (bondage is fine), polyamory, focus on heterosexual relationships.

Request 1: Brad/Nate, Nate/Brad/OC, Nate/Mike Wynn: I love when Nate is all brooding and conflicted and trying to keep his feelings under control in theater but then someone - Brad or Mike - sees right through him. Also would love any type of holiday meet the family scenario, or a NYE party fic.

Request 2: Webster/Liebgott: I love banter with these two, I love repressed feelings, I also love whenever they're smoking together. I adore fic where they sneak off in Austria, or when Web takes Lieb's cab after the war, or Web gets his hair cut by someone else and Lieb gets jealous/offended - also love when Lieb cuts Web's hair, of course. Would love a meet the family scenario during a holiday (accidentally or on purpose) or a NYE party fic.
Request 3: John Egan/Gale Cleven, John Egan/Paula, John/Paula/Gale, John/Gale/Marge; I love the idea of John and Gale being besties who also occasionally give each other hand jobs or something. As in both of them think it's no big deal until oops feelings get in the way. Maybe after a near-death experience, or after John talks it out Paula or Gale talks it out with Marge? I would also love fic where Gale & John are just trying to antagonize each other and one-up each other until they end up making out about it. Also love it when they're really kinky with each other or with a third.

Request 4: John Egan/Croz: Okay look, these dudes are messy drunks and they both are the only ones to get some during the war so I just think they'd be neat together. Maybe Crosby is hoping for some dating tips or sex tips? Maybe they're both just really desperate but then it turns into a reoccurring thing?

Request 5: Rosie/Croz, Croz/Sandra, Rosie/Croz/Sandra: Rosie and Croz sure got real close real fast. I'd love to know more about what Croz thinks of Rosie waiting for him to wake up. Also would love post-canon fic where they make it to that jazz club. I liked Sandra, so I'd love for you to give her some closure. Maybe Sandra takes Croz and Rosie out on the town since they're such good friends all of a sudden? Or maybe there's one last post-VE day fling?

Request 6: Tatty Spaatz/Anyone (including Helen or an OC): I just want to know more about her and her life on base! What was it like being in Europe but not being able to fly? How did others treat her? Does she like being around her Dad or does she find it stifling? Does she push her luck because she thinks she can get away with it? Also if she finds f/f or m/f romance on base or out in town, I would not complain!!!

Request 7: John Egan/Anyone: He makes a great bicycle, just being drunk and horny on base all the time. You can really go wild with a rare pair here and I will eat it up.

Request 8: Alex Jefferson/Anyone: More Alex please! I would be so interested in seeing him getting closer to the guy(s) at the Stalag even though he tries to keep to himself. Would also love a post-war fic where he ends up keeping in touch with someone and/or runs into them at some art exhibit or gay bar. I'd love any fic involving Alex and his art - maybe he becomes a working artist or joins a post-war artist collective or draws things for his sweetheart?

Request 1: Masters of the Air: Minor Female Characters Do Stuff (Maybe in a Sapphic Way). I'd love to see more of the Red Cross women, maybe Tatty and Helen are hooking, up with each other, or with the land girls/fire wardens/Lil from the pub, running into differences between UK and US queer culture, having a lot of feelings about the pressures of war. Or, what do the British women make of Suddenly American Women? Could be gen about female friendship too. Or, GIVE THE WACs SOME LINES! Or, something about Paulina finding a home in the UK, and maybe discovering a bit about herself (wink wink, nudge nudge). Or, tell me about Michou and Manon, how did they meet? Have they got a whole Lovers In Dangerous Times situation going on? Are either of them connected with Louise?

Request 2: Masters of the Air: Alexander Jefferson Needs a Boyfriend. There needs to be more about Alex! Maybe he has a fellow back home? Maybe he and Daniels flirt a lil bit? Or him and Cleven? I'm basically happy with anything about him.

Request 3: Band of Brothers: Renee/Anna: I'd love a fic where they knew each other before the war, and all the different little connections in their lives. And/Or post-war Renee lives AU. OR! Renee dies and haunts Anna. I'm happy calling her Anna or Augusta, and using RL details or not. I'd prefer the story not be completely about racism, though of course it can be an element. No modern AUs, please, but other historical or genre AUs, or adding magic etc to the canon setting are fine.

Request 4: Band of Brothers: Women We Don't See Grab Bag: I would love anything about the relationships and connections between some of the sisters/girlfriends/wives of the guys. Some of my favourites are Ann Winters, Blanche Nixon, Kathy Nixon, Pat Martin, Frannie Peca/Guarnere, DeEtta Almon, but take your pick. Apparently Frannie Peca and Pat Martin were pen pals, for example. How did they see the war? Or just go totally tropey romance and write some femslash with lots of pining and hot smut, lol. I'd love gen or femslash, and am happy with poly arrangements, open marriages, etc, if you want to include the guys.

Request 5: Band of Brothers: Joe Toye Post War Happiness Project: I'd love anything where Joe learns to live again and heals after the war, maybe breaks free of his old life and has adventures. I love Joe/George Joe/Don, Joe/Earl, Joe/Bill, Joe/Buck (or some combination of them). I love stuff with period queer culture and blurry gender lines, and complicated trauma, figuring out how to navigate disability. However, I also would love a light and fluffy romance with lots of tropes and adventures. Or throw all this out and do canon era with any of these guys, how they met, Paris gay bars, whatever strikes your fancy. I'd be absolutely delighted with anything for any of these pairings.

Request 6: Band of Brothers: Buck Compton Gets Over Himself: I'm happy with Buck/Luz, Buck/Don, Buck/Joe Toye, or other pairings or gen combinations that strike your fancy, but I'd really love more about Buck dealing with repression, and trying to figure out where he fits in the world where what he's been told about masculinity, and what he feels like he wants to be finally come to a head. Could be exploring kink, or trying to get involved with the gay community, crossdressing, getting therapy, or just being fucking happy for once. I love post-war trauma recovery, but any period appreciated. I admit a longing for an AU where he becomes a minor league baseball player after the war. I'd prefer to avoid plots about him becoming a lawyer or going into politics.

Request 7: Band of Brothers: Tony Garcia: I really like the little we see of him in Replacements and going forward, and wish we'd seen more of him as he integrated with the unit. I'm especially fond of his early heart eyes towards the Normandy vets, and wonder how that changed. Maybe a story where he has a massive unrequited crush on Bull Randleman, and likes to imagine impressing him. (Would be happy to see Tony/Les as an endgame here). Or interacting with the other Latino troopers. Or stuff with the other Replacements generally, as they try to find their place in the unit. Watching Babe slot in with the vets because of Bill, and spend less time with him. Or, Tony has some kind of magical secret.

Request 8: The Pacific: Andrew Haldane/Edward Jones: I have strong feelings about loyalty, and they're entirely bound up in the Nice Captain and His Lieutenant. I love both the intensity of the bond we get between them in just a few scenes, and the odd couple nature of the pairing. I'm very much up in denial over how canon treated them, so post-war AUs where they don't die are great. Some kind of supernatural AU: One of them ends up haunting the other. Or maybe trapped in an object? Can have them coming back or remaining a ghost. OR! One of them is a supernatural creature in disguise. A mermaid? A demon? There's magic and consequences. Or an AU where Eddie has to take command of K/3/5 after Andy is wounded (but not killed), and how he handles that. I love Eddie's friendship with Gunny Haney, and would love to see more of that. If you want to add Sledge to the mix to make an OT3, go for it!

Do Not Wants: Hopeless endings of utter sadness (bittersweet is fine), sympathetic portrayals of Nazis/Nazi apologia, regional accents written phonetically (dialect words are fine), vividly-described on-page death by illness or cancer, references/allusions to present-day politics or covid-19, character(s)/the author lecturing other characters/the reader about social justice issues, incest (first cousins are fine), student/teacher romance or sex, strong and realistic sexual violence (dubcon okay in cases of sex pollen what have you, rape recovery also okay), graphic torture (aftermath of torture is okay), cheating/infidelity, mutilation, or zombies. Note: I am very happy for you to take a general like and do a story around that but if you're looking for prompts or thoughts, I've included a few below.

I really like the enemies to lovers trope and I like that there's a fair amount of antagonism even when they seem to be getting along. I love their banter, I love the back and forth and just how much Joe harasses David.

I would love to see what happens to them after the war. Do they meet each other again in a random city by happenstance? Do they start a correspondence? Do they spend years pining over each other after they hook up during the war and try to find each other?

I'm also into more light-hearted adventures! Do they open a detective agency in the 1940s world? Does one of them find themselves possessing superhero powers and try to do good(ish) and the other one is the Lois Lane to their Clark Kent? Do they both find themselves possessing immortality a la The Old Guard?

I'm into road trips--do they have to drive across country together after the war ends because of reasons? Do they drive each other crazy and also fall in love?

I'm also interested in seeing them in a present-day setting. Maybe they're [insert thieves/spies/librarians etc.] with a history of working against each other and they have to team up? Maybe they're in the modern-day military.

I am also completely into a Band of Brothers/Generation Kill AU of any type. I would love to see Richard, Lewis, David, Joe, Brad and Nate all interacting! Maybe they all end up in the same unit in a modern war or maybe they're all in WWII together. It could also be an AU completely unrelated to warfare--maybe they all work together or connect in a different way? Or maybe there's time travel and Brad and Nate end up back in the 1940s or Joe and David end up in the 2000s. You could also split the difference and do a 1970s AU...

I am just taken by how much these two men like each other and just how much they care for each other. I want to see that--I'm always all about pining, so I'd love to see them pining for each other, perhaps for part or all of the war, before finally working through whatever needs to work through and getting together.

Or maybe after the war is over, and they both move on in their lives, connecting way down the road. I'd be very interested in working through Lewis's alcoholism and seeing the toll that takes on them before he gets his act together. I'd also love to see maybe an exploration of the small moments between them--does one of them realize the other has been showing that their love for years (e.g. Dick and the alcohol collection in Austria)? Or the two of them swimming together and having a quiet moment stateside after the war's end.

I am also completely into a Band of Brothers/Generation Kill AU of any type. I would love to see Lewis, Richard, David, Joe, Brad and Nate all interacting! Maybe they all end up in the same unit in a modern war or maybe they're all in WWII together. It could also be an AU completely unrelated to warfare--maybe they all work together or connect in a different way? Or maybe there's time travel and Brad and Nate end up back in the 1940s. You could also split the difference and do a 1970s AU...

I'm all about the unspoken feelings between the two of them--being in the military, being subject to DADT and being in the chain of command--I would love to see the perspective of waiting and then finally getting to act on their feelings. I'dalso love to see Brad and Nate getting together after their return from Iraq, either pre or post the repeal of DADT. I feel like there's a lot of opportunity for pining here--maybe one of them thinking that the other doesn't reciprocating, being concerned about professional repercussions or trying to protect the other...(so many opportunities!). You could also have them going their separate ways after returning from Iraq and then reconnecting, years down the road.

I also love how Nate emotes so much (even though he is restrained) and Brad holds things so closely to the chest. I would love to see where the immovable object meets the unstoppable force of those be it in them working out their feelings, protecting the other or another situation. I want all the emotional explosions and revelations!

I feel like these two would be great in an AU that involves hidden identities and trying not to fall in love with each other (but failing in that respect). Or how their relationship changes over the years evidenced in letters, emails, texts to each other. I feel like a marriage of convenience would be great to explore with each other (being so into each other, being forced to marry and thinking that the other person isn't into them).

On the lighter side, I would definitely love to see one of the guys selflessly setting up the other on date after date even while pining the entire time.
