Hi! So I have this fic in my head that I'd love to write, a Lip/Luz for that prompt about Luz finding out that no matter what he does in the back of the plane nobody can't notice because of everybody else in front of him giving him their backs. So he kinda playfully starts groping Lip. Except he notices that Lip is having a nice reaction to it.
Maybe the first time he just notices Lip is red and throwing glances at him, so the second time he gets back to it, but then he notices that Lip doesn't really try to move away from him.
And slowly things escalate up until the point of Luz seriously groping Lip in the back of the plane during training.

Problem is that I kinda wanted to tie this in with Lip starting to be restless about being so far from home and being anxious about the Christmas jump. And Luz maybe notices because Lip stops wanting his attentions and Luz goes into "santa Luz will save Lip's christmas". But this could be very long.

Were you looking at setting this during the qualifying jumps in Benning, or the jumps in Europe for more training, or? Like needing to do five jumps to qualify is a five times fic right there.

I was thinking before the Christmas in Europe, when they received their jump wings, right? (I hope I'm not mistaken on the chronology) Did they need five jumps?

They did their qualifying jumps just before Christmas 1942, while they were stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia in the US, then got 10 days off.

You had to do five jumps.

Uhm, so first of all I should find out if there is ever snow in Georgia, and then find a reason for Lip to not be sure if he can make it at home

I seem to remember there being a hard winter. Dick was hitchhiking home, and had some trouble with the weather. Plus Lip's home state is in the mountains.

Maybe he can't go back. Maybe Luz stays too. Maybe they finally have sex.

It really depends where they are. Certainly getting up to Virginia from the Fort Benning/Columbus area could be difficult because those parts of Appalachia closer to the Blue Ridge Mountains can get pretty snowy, though Fort Benning itself seems a little far South to get altogether much snow.

In general that area of the South doesn't get a lot of snow, but in your favor, that also means it's not usually prepared for snow. An article I found from last year, for example, talks about the Governor of Columbus, which is a whopping twenty minutes from modern-day Fort Benning, declaring a state of emergency for an inch of snowfall. Also snow tends to melt and refreeze in the lower Southern states so big patches of ice on those mountainous, hilly roads can be major problems, as I have learned from experience.

It didn't snow at all in Savannah when I lived there, though that's a way more coastal city than Fort Benning, and I know it snows in Alabama, which Fort Benning is like, right on the edge of, so I think bad weather could work even if the weather issue itself isn't at Fort Benning. Like, they're not going to get snowed in there, but ice on the roads to the North could make it impossible or too dangerous for Lip to risk trying to get home.

This is part of what I wrote for my Time Travel BDSM AU yesterday instead of working while sitting in the archives.

When Dick had told Nix he’d had a surprise for him, a hundred dirty thoughts had raced through his mind. He’d licked his lips as the jeep tore through Bechtesgarden. Dick had little to say on the ride, but the knowing smile on his face, and refusal to tell Nix what was in store for him gave him some idea. It had been too long. Whenever they managed to shake Harry, Zeilinski would appear. Nix was so sexually frustrated he couldn’t even enjoy his long-awaited bacon sandwich.

Booze was almost as good.

And then, when they were back at the Bechtesgarden Hof, alone and half-dressed, Nix appreciated the weight of Dick’s body on top of his. He liked the way champagne tasted on Dick’s tongue, and wondered if it was wrong that he was getting off as much on Dick giving in to the temptations of the day as the now familiar feeling of Dick’s soft lips running along his jaw. He’d finally done it – gone and corrupted Major Winters.

Nix started laughing as Dick kissed his neck. He pulled back and looked him in the eye. “Ticklish?” he asked.

“I just realized how sneaky you really are. Machiavellian, really.”

Dick smirked. “I needed some alone time with you.”

“And nobody would say anything if you wandered off from a party. And they wouldn’t be surprised I planned to drink myself into a coma alone.”

“You deserve it,” Dick said, his small smile growing into a grin.

“I do, don’t I?”

Nix ran his hands through Dick’s hair before pulling his head down and kissing him again. He could kiss him like this forever. And maybe he would, if he could sort things out well enough to keep Dick around. He’d seen things in the future, a whole life for them, and his Dick assured him that this love, and this terrible magic of being out of time with everyone around him was real. Dick’s kisses certainly felt real.

“We need to get you out of these,” Dick said, tugging at his fatigues. Nix was hard as a rock underneath them, and he certainly agreed.

“You want to see me in my dre—” he started, attempting to be witty, but then Dick moved his leg in between Lewis’ and the shift in weight made him moan and remember that he didn’t need to flirt anymore, it was time to fuck.

Dick rolled off of him and lay his head back on thick down pillows. He smiled, clearly drunk off of two glasses of champagne. “I want to see you undress for me, Nix.”

Somehow it was always Nix who ended up blushing in the bedroom. Dick was so earnest about fucking, confident that he could get Nix to do whatever he wanted, he didn’t bother to feel embarrassed about the whole thing.

“Whatever you want, Major Winters.”

It shouldn’t have surprised Lew that Dick liked to be in control, but it had. He’d imagined what sort of lay Dick Winters would be since OCS, and back then he’d thought Dick would probably prefer it under the sheets in the dark if at all. Lew would have to be the seducer, the one to say ‘oh, what’s a blowjob between friends?’ before sucking him off. But the Dick Winters who seduced him in their Haggenau billet had been a confident, and unnervingly competent lover. ‘How many times have we done this?’ Lew had asked, because Dick seemed to know just what to do with his tongue. But Dick had refused to tell him any of the sordid details of his future.

Maybe this time travel thing wouldn’t be so bad after all, if most of it was going to be spent giving Dick his sexual awakening.

Nix forced himself up to his feet. He’d been spoiled by Dick in bed the past few months, who let Nix be lazy and seemed happy to do most of the work. He supposed he owed Dick a stripshow or two. He didn’t have much to take off though, as Dick had nearly ripped the buttons of his jacket off in haste to get it off, and he’d rid himself of his undershirt just to feel Dick against his skin. So he made do with what he had on.

Basically there's something called Chrono-Impairment, lifted from The Time Traveler's Wife, where certain people randomly travel through time at certain points, not controlling where they'll go or when. And it's caused by stress, and made worse by drinking. So when Nix gets hit in the head in Replacements, he starts being displaced. Though most of the places he goes are random, big events/people in his life draw him in so he goes back there. That's how he ends up meeting Dick before Dick ever knew him. Dick is really afraid of messing up what happens, because old!Nix is married to him, living on a farm and raising rescue dogs, so he refuses to tell young!Nix anything. So when they meet at OCS, present!Nix is married to Kathy or whatever, but future!Nix has been Dick's time travel boyfriend for like three years?? Idk it's very messy at this point.

That's so cool! I wrote a kind of similar time travel in a fic of mine, where people can have glimpses of their future if they get too close to death!

Love this concept! Time travel fic is a fave of mine when it's done well and it looks like you're definitely handling it with expertise~ Also, yay BDSM!

AtLA!AU Winnix snippet~

I started writing this as a fill for the "fire" square on my H/C Bingo card and pretty immediately realized that if I wanted to combine bending as it exists in Avatar with the BoB universe it was going to take more thought than I am currently able to provide. Because of that, this particular concept is shelved for the moment, though I have added it to the list of slightly longer form fic I want to explore this year. I figured y'all might like a peek anyway. Fair warning that it hasn't had anything resembling even a cursory editing pass at this point:

“Hey,” Lew said, slipping into the foxhole alongside a flashing sliver of moonlight. “How’re you holding up?”

Dick peered out from the shrugged-close confines of his jacket and the tightly-wrapped hood of his his scarf, which was looped around his head and tucked up under his nose to afford some small buffer from the cold. “You’re letting the heat out,” he complained, muffled and brusque. Lew smirked and tugged the tarp back into place.

It was downright tropical in here, with the way Dick was bleeding heat like a bonfire, but Lew knew better by now than to argue the point. It was cold in Bastogne, by and large, and colder still for a firebender, like Dick.

“My apologies,” Lew drawled, holding up his gloved hands. He fished a slightly smashed pack of cigarettes out from his blouse pocket and tapped it against the heel of his palm until one of them slipped free. Similar investigation of his person failed to yield his lighter, so Lew sighed and arched an eyebrow at Dick’s huddled form. “Spot me?”

Dick rolled his eyes but tugged one of his gloves off and reached out. He pinched the tip of the cigarette and Lew sucked at the filter until the cherry caught, a little spark of flame licking affectionately at the pads of Dick’s fingers as he pulled back and wrestled his glove back on again.

“Everything alright?” Dick asked, settling against the foxhole’s far wall. The frozen dirt at his back steamed a little as he sank into it.

“Yeah, fine,” Lew assured him. And then, because when Dick said ‘everything’ he usually meant ‘everyone,’ he continued, “Line’s spread thin but it’s holding, and the boys look good.”

Dick snorted his disbelief at this assessment and Lew knocked their boots warningly together, sighing a stream of smoke through his nose.

“Good as they can be,” he amended. “Waterbenders always go a little funny with this much ice around, but Malarkey’s doing alright.”

“What about Roe?” Dick asked. “And Spina?”

Lew shrugged. “They seemed okay when I talked to them.” This was not, strictly speaking, true—while Spina was gregarious as always, Roe had still been a little lost in his own head. He was better than he had been before the bombing in town, though, so Lew was willing to cut the kid some slack. “They’ve got Heffron in there with ‘em, all bundled up like kindling.”

“Well,” Dick said, surprised, “that’s good.” There was no hard and fast rule that fire- and waterbenders didn’t mix, but the unacknowledged truth of the matter was that opposing elements tended to put one another on edge for a variety of reasons. That waterbenders excelled in caregiving positions—as Army healers, for example—was a more widely celebrated trait, and likewise one of the reasons it was such a goddamn chore to get Dick into an aid station when he needed one.

“Nice and cozy,” Lew agreed. He leaned his head back against the dirt and closed his eyes. The packed earth was cool against his hair, humming distantly with the reverberations of all the men dug down into it for miles and miles around. “Rest of the fellas seemed fine. Losing Harry did a number on them, but we haven’t broken this camel’s back just yet.”

JK JK It's not languishing, though I will admit that it's not crazy high on my priority list as it stands. There are other fic I'd rather write this year and unless I want to try to go totally ham and double my WC from last year not all of them are going to make the cut. :/ Which sucks, but, c'est la vie or what have you I guess.

Not a WIP at all, more like a rabid plot bunny. I've been struck by this lovely quote from "Coming Out Under Fire" and now I really, really want to write a bar flirt shortfic with Lew and Dick basically making love with songs under the nose of the whole Company:

At Mitchell's tavern in nearby Florence, he wrote to a pen pal, he spotted "the most handsome corporal drinking at the bar" and they both began exchanging "very attentive glances".
