Last Monday I can wish everyone Happy Pride Month! Unless your country's pride month is in July. Also I was juuuuuuust catching up on my reading when fest fic dropped, and that was the end of that. This is a post for the good things in fandom life, for example:

The only other thing I had time to read this week was churchkey's gorgeous bittersweet with a happy ending post-war Winnix fic: It Is My Heart That's Late.

I'm gearing up to do auction fic for Tec, and thus Buck Compton research. I'd been putting off his book, and let me tell you folks, it's an EMOTIONAL VOYAGE. I mean the man's slightly to the right of Attila the Hun, politically, but if you're looking for an untapped well of immense trauma and toxic masculinity, Buck Compton is your boo.

Oh wow, godspeed. Neal McD even looks like toxic masculinity personified. My favorite thing about Buck is how Nix apparently didn't like him and my second favorite thing is how when Nix is explaining Carentan to the officers he's like "Car'eh'ta" and then looks directly at Buck when he gives the American pronunciation, like "that's KAREN-TANN to you, you fucking neanderthal".

BUT I love me some Compton fic and I'm sure yours will kick ass, can't wait for it!

OMG, they haaaaaaaaaaaated each other. So much. Well, mostly Nix seemed to hate Buck for no reason anyone can describe, and Buck retaliated by trying to avoid Nix. (Nix's actions included making Buck lead PT in his service uniform! Every day! And calling him a coward for leaving the line at Bastogne in 1980.) Tec's written some good hate fucking for them.

Anyway, I'll to be honest try to soften a few edges because I can't handle how horrifyingly Tea Party he is, but there is a post-war Don/Buck college fic on the books. Need to reread the post-war section of Don's book too.

But Buck's childhood! Seriously! WTF!

I've been gleefully romping through the GenKill archives catching up on years and years of fantastic writing. One (of many, many, many excellent fics) that has recently made me happy is Imprint by Signe (Brad/Nate [M] 3K).

This fandom has so much talent!
