[EVENT] Heavy Artillery Rare Pair Exchange 2022 Participant Prompts!

Hi everyone! Assignments for the Rare Pair Exchange have officially gone out, which means that it's time to share participant prompts for anyone who wants to write additional gifts for their fellow exchangers.

A few of the participants have elected to keep their names anonymous. If you would like to fill a prompt for an anonymous participant, just leave a comment on this post* with the participant's number and which request you'd like to fill. (Ex: "I'd like to write request 1 for Participant 4." or "I'd like to fill a request for Participant 5, but I'm not sure which one yet.") I'll provide you with the names of the people whose requests you'd like to fill so that you can gift your fic on the AO3 collection accordingly.

Request 1: Band of Brothers: Renee/Anna: I'd love a fic where they knew each other before the war, and all the different little connections in their lives. And/Or post-war Renee lives AU. OR! Renee dies and haunts Anna. I'm happy calling her Anna or Augusta, and using RL details or not. I'd prefer the story not be completely about racism, though of course it can be an element. No modern AUs, please, but adding magic etc to the canon setting is fine.

Request 2: Band of Brothers: Women We Don't See Grab Bag: I would love anything about the relationships and connections between some of the sisters/girlfriends/wives of the guys. Some of my favourites are Ann Winters, Blanche Nixon, Kathy Nixon, Pat Martin, Frannie Peca/Guarnere, DeEtta Almon, but take your pick. Apparently Frannie Peca and Pat Martin were pen pals, for example. How did they see the war? Or just go totally tropey romance and write some femslash with lots of pining and hot smut, lol. I'd love gen or femslash, and am happy with poly arrangements, open marriages, etc, if you want to include the guys.

Request 3: Band of Brothers: Joe Toye Post War Happiness Project: I'd love anything where Joe learns to live again and heals after the war, maybe breaks free of his old life and has adventures. I love Joe/Don, Joe/Earl, Joe/Bill, Joe/Buck (or some combination of them). I love stuff with period queer culture and blurry gender lines, and complicated trauma, figuring out how to navigate disability. However, I also would love a light and fluffy romance with lots of tropes and adventures. Or throw all this out and do canon era with any of these guys, how they met, Paris gay bars, whatever strikes your fancy. I'd be absolutely delighted with anything for any of these pairings.

Request 4: Band of Brothers: Luz Fucks Around: I'd love some Lipton/Luz or Compton/Luz, or... I have no idea how that would work as a poly V, but hats off if you could manage it. I really like Luz's ability to disarm people who take themselves too seriously, and the balance between doing that and using the joker mode to cover for his own emotional distress. I see all of them as identifying as people who serve and need to help others, and put too much pressure on themselves, which makes all of them an h/c disaster zone. There's also a great potential for banter and some really smoking hot sex. Angst, snark, smut, any amount of period queer stuff, and/or gender blurring, quiet moments of just getting to be with each other, gay bars in London or Paris or New York or LA. I'd just be so happy to see more for these pairings.

Request 5: The Pacific: Eddie Jones & Elmo Haney: We don't get a lot of scenes between these two, but I love the implication that Haney sees Eddie as a younger version of himself, and attempts to look after him when he can. I'd love more mentorship, friendship, adventures together. Would prefer no sex between them. Maybe they both survive the war and keep up writing each other as they go home and are both REALLY BAD at adjusting to being civilians. Or Various times that Haney has tried to help Eddie with his career and give advice, both good and bad. Or supernatural elements where they have to figure out and solve a magical problem.

Do-Not-Wants: No modern AUs, please, but adding magic etc to the canon setting is fine. I don't really care about Speirs, but he's fine as a minor character. I'd rather the endings weren't 100% bleak. No bashing or badmouthing female characters.

Request 1: Nate Fick/Gunny Wynn or Nate Fick/Doc Bryan. Potential prompts: they just want to take care of the LT in whatever little ways they can; what's a little bro-job/handjob/dirty talk to release some tension?; pining is really just a distraction they don't need; once they make it back state-side they meet up in an unexpected place; magical realism: One of them discovers the other has some kind of special (but maybe not useful?) power.

Request 2: Walt Hasser/Brad Colbert. Potential prompts: Walt basically hero-worships Brad but Brad's not complaining (can definitely get kinky with this. Size kink anyone?); Turns out they have more in common than Brad realized; After they're back home, Brad wants to help Walt get his groove back.

Request 3: Speirs/Nixon or Liebgott/Nixon or Speirs/Liebgott or Liebgott/anyone: Either A and B antagonize the shit out of each other and love to be assholes, or they have a mutual understanding that they can have rough sex and try to never interact otherwise. Or how about sneaking looks or notes during the war? Playing gay chicken? Maybe I just want to see them try some kinky stuff on each other? Dirty talk, humiliation, D/s, spanking, bondage, honor bondage, breath play, feminization, and oral fixation etc. are all fair game. Also down with a body swap AU!

Request 4: Webster/Lt. Jones: Webster is excited to finally have someone who appreciates his background; they bond over school/literature/etc; Jones keeps writing to Web when he gets transferred; post-canon dating in secret; Jones comes to Web's book release or academic event; Lt. Jones is a total novice in the bedroom and he trusts Web to show him the ropes; Body swap AU.

Request 5: Harry/Kitty, Harry/Nixon/Winters: Poker game gone wrong (or right)! Harry getting in the middle just to stir up some shit, and then actually enjoying himself! Harry finally making it home to Kitty! Or outsider PoV of any of the Easy guys thinking about Harry's passion towards Kitty.

Request 1: bill "hoosier" smith/robert leckie: i am so very fond of farmboy!hoosier and city boy!leckie. so this can be a high scool au, a post-canon fic, or whatever you like where leckie comes to visit hoosier in indiana and hoos shows him around. give me all the animals (horses, rabbits, dogs, cattle, you name it), the untainted night sky and leckie's homelife being kinda shit.

a brokeback mountain au is definitely something i'd like!

for this pairing (or all pairings, really) a ptsd-study, and ptsd recovery in a post-canon setting is always appreciated.

Request 2: shawn "pappy" patrick/rudy reyes: any type of fic that digs into the special bond they share as a spotter and sniper. can be canon, historical, modern etc.

a post-canon fic dealing with pappy's recovery (mental and physical) from the injury he sustained in iraq is always appreciated!

Request 3: brad colbert/walt hasser: walt finds himself lost and afloat when they're back stateside, and brad's one of the few people who can get him grounded again. a soft!dom brad and a sub!walt who needs to get into subspace with gentle methods. can be explicit, or just pg-13, it's the dynamic that's key!

Request 4: mike wynn/nate fick: anything that digs into what a rock mike was for nate during the invasion. d/s undertones are more than welcome!

I’d also love to read something where they’re just friends. Maybe even how they became so close in the first place. Their first night sharing a foxhole, Jay giving Bill some advice since he’s a veteran, Bill being a little softer around him, maybe. Whatever you like :)

Request 2: Sidney Phillips / Eugene Sledge

I always have to think of Sid when I hear the song “Lucky Man” by Emerson, Lake and Palmer because of Gene’s letter to him and the line: “You’re the lucky one, Sid”. So what if Sid gets either killed or badly wounded while he’s overseas and Gene’s still at home and he realizes how stupid his statement was and how much he really loved Sid all this time. If Sid gets wounded he could return home, Gene doesn’t enlist and they could have a happy ending. If you want to let Sid die then, well :^)
Alternatively, you can write whatever you want, I’m open for anything canonverse, post-war or modern verse.

Sidney Phillips & Eugene Sledge

I'd also like to read something platonic about them. Maybe something pre war, when they're both still idealistic and hopeful for the future, living their lives as the little country boys that they are ^^ But if you have a better, more original idea, go for it!

Request 3: Bill Leyden & Eugene Sledge

Post-war. They keep in contact through letters and Bill can tell that Gene is struggling after the war. He’s been back in the states for some time now and knows the struggle. He wants to help Gene battle his demons but also wants to cheer him up.
Gene could visit him in Brooklyn, country boy in the big city. Or Leyden could visit him in Mobile, Yankee in the Deep South.

Or any other kind of exploration of their friendship during canon. How they became friends, a fun story about them, a missing scene or something more serious about the times Leyden got injured?


Request 4: Bill Leyden & Merriell Shelton

Basically anything about these little bastards. Preferably something where they live up to their full chaos/bastard energy. It could be something during canon, a missing scene maybe, something post-canon or an AU would also be fine!

Request 5: Merriell Shelton / R.V. Burgin

God’s Own Country AU - kinda. Burgie’s family has a farm but they’re struggling. Snafu is their new laborer for the season either after the war or in an AU situation. He’s either very good with the animals or helps with repairs around the farm so they profit immensely from his work. Burgie and Snafu fall in love and Burgie wants him to stay.

Maybe a missing scene on Okinawa. Burgie is never gloomy, but Okinawa is hell and he isn’t sure if he ever gets to get home and marry his girl. Snafu could comfort him or at least try to do so. Or they could reflect on their time at Cape Gloucester.

Request 3: George Luz & Joe Liebgott: Love the potential of this friendship so much! Would love to see them getting into some kind of mischief, hassling each other, or teaming up to hassle others. Again, I`m super open about AUs, so have at it!

Request 4: Doc Bryan/Anyone: Just Smut. Please. I don’t care, I want it aggressive with a tender aftertaste. Unable to properly convey feelings that are too strong is always nice.

Do-Not-Wants: No body waste, no breaking up Winnix (side pieces are fine and pre-together relationships are fine xD) No underage sex (kid!fic and older teenage romance dabbling is fine)

Request 1: John Basilone/Manuel Rodriguez - Some ideas to throw at you: 'nobody dies' something, a pre-series story that doesn't address their eventual death(s), or something based around Basilone's bond tour (epistolary fic??). I swear there's something here that went unacknowledged/didn't have the time to be realised, and would love to see this dynamic explored!

Request 2: Robert Leckie/Runner Conley - Would love basically anything here. I have a preference for canon fic, but would not say no to a scrappy 1920s noir, or "Leckie the investigative journalist" something.

Request 3: Snafu Shelton/Jay De L'Eau - I'm intrigued by the notion, and would love something set in canon exploring this

Request 4: Eugene Roe/Joe Toye - Would love a post war something! Maybe accidentally crossing paths somehow?

Request 5: Eugene Sledge/Jay De L'Eau - Would love anything exploring this! Canon preferred please :)

Do-Not-Wants: I'm not fond of high school and collage AUs, fantasy AUs. While I don't mind smut, I don't generally like it as a basis of a story (unless it's tied in with characterisation?? or deep and all consuming angst?? hahaha). Thank you!

Request 1: Ralph Spina/Eugene Roe or Ralph Spina/Babe Heffron: Honestly, Spina just needs more love in general. Would love to see him and Roe developing a relationship over the course of their medic training and dealing with the horrors of war, or Babe and Spina running into each other back in Philly and getting together. Just more Spina! Hell, go ahead and throw all three of them together into a throuple, or if you think you can convince me that he ought to be with someone else, I'll give anything a shot, as long as it's not Speirs or Lipton.

Request 2: Blanche Nixon/Ann Winters: Okay, listen. I will take anything for this pairing. Anything. (Excepting DNWs, of course.) BUT! I would kill for a canon-era baseball AU. It was the heyday of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and I just don't think we talk about that enough! Or, hey, maybe they meet through their brothers and strike up an unlikely friendship that becomes more! Maybe Ann left home for New York while Dick was away at war and she works as a waitress in the diner where Blanche has her hangover coffee every morning after spending her nights out partying with the high society jet-setters and they fall in love! Maybe they're fucking Vikings or something, I don't know! COME ON, Y'ALL, THEY'RE BASICALLY OC'S THIS IS SUCH FERTILE GROUND I'M BEGGING YOU.

Request 3: Robert Leckie/Bud "Runner" Conley: Pre-canon shenanigans when they're in training! (Lord knows Leckie got up to enough.) Or maybe after the war, Runner comes to where Leckie is to say hi and hang for a bit and he just...never leaves. Double points, in the latter instance, for supportive Vera, and supportive Mr. and Mrs. Leckie's Parents. As patented hooligans, these two also feel like a pair primed for a good trope-y AU. Double bonus for getting the whole of the How Co. ensemble in there somehow.

Request 4: DeEtta Almon/Lena Riggi: Like with Ann/Blanche, I will take anything! Maybe they meet during some kind of crossover event pre-canon and have a sexy fling! Maybe they both go career military after the war is over and find each other that way! Maybe they're both out of the military but meet elsewhere and wind up bonding! I'm open to anything, really.

Request 5: Sid Phillips/Eugene Sledge/Mary Houston Phillips or Sid Phillips/Eugene Sledge: I don't know, I just have a lot of feelings about Mary helping Sid find himself when he gets back from the war and the two of them seeing Sledge struggle through much of the same shit and taking it upon themselves to try and help him, too, only to slowly realize over the course of time that they're dating and have been for a WHILE. Also, this one is kind of out there, but I would love if, in addition to helping him cope with his experiences during the war, Mary and Sid also help Sledge figure out he's genderqueer, even if they don't have the modern terminology for it. Any of these tropes/themes is also great with Sid/Sledge, I would just prefer Mary not be made into a villain if she appears in the fic. In fact, bonus points for supportive beard Mary Houston!
