In one fic for another fandom, I knew from the beginning that I wanted to use the POVs of both main characters, so each section changed POV (and I gave each section its own chapter for clarity). Maybe alternating POVs would work for your fic too?

But I'm with Arwy, you have a lot of room to play there so I kind of feel like you can't go wrong. Though I guess, depending on whether it's set immediately after the war or if it takes place months/years later, that might change how they are? *is unhelpful, but enthusiastic about new fic*

(At some point I want to write fic for them but I need an idea first and also I am slow and need to start/write my ddsherman fic. So maybe in January? haha)
